Costa Caleta [formerly known as Caleta de Fuste] is a purpose-built, still-developing tourist resort situated around a partly natural, partly man-made sandy beach. It is sometimes known as El Castillo de Fuste, the "Castillo" (castle) referring to an 18th-century watchtower by the harbour, near a small marina and lighthouse. The castle is the only item of historical interest in an otherwise modern resort made up of white, low-rise apartment blocks interspersed with rows of palms. The development has grown up either side of the coast road, the 2 halves linked by a tunnel. Nuevo Horizonte – also known locally as
Costa de Antigua – has been developing since 1990 in a mixture of styles. The coastline at this point is rocky with the main usable beach in Costa Caleta, so resort life centres around each complex's pool; the only alternative to this is Lagos de Antigua, a seawater swimming lake with minimal restaurants and shops nearby.
Some aircraft noise may be experienced during the day due to the proximity of the airport, which is 20 minutes away.

The beach is the focal point of the resort. It has good sand and thatched parasols, and as it's protected by a breakwater, it's safer for young children. It is a 1 mile walk along the coast path from Nuevo Horizonte, which has no beach of its own.
There is a small but varied range of restaurants, bars and cafes.
