TARAJALEJO TRAVEL GUIDE
Fuerteventura, Canary Islands, SpainIf you are looking for a holiday hotel or apartment in Tarajalejo, the following information may help by giving you an overview on the resort.
Tarajalejo is rocky in parts along this coast, but dotted with pebble and black sandy beaches. There's some good opportunities for diving. Tarajalejo is not renowned for its beach - it's pebble and black sand here, but like Gran Tarajal there's a pleasant Canarian charm to this location, plus some excellent Canarian restaurants and an annual Sacred Heart Fiesta held on the 8th May. There's a nice quay, and it's a quiet and tranquil base, yet close enough to
Costa Calma and the beautiful beach of Sotavento further south.
If you're looking for a traditional Canarian and quiet coastal base, then Tarajalejo, and indeed Las Playitas and Gran Tarajal are worth your attention. (the supermarkets in Gran Tarajal, serving the local Canarian population are a lot cheaper than the resorts!!). The secret of Tarajalejo, and other quieter bases on the Tuineje municipality stretch of coast is that they started life way back as working villages, usually with a focus on fishing in the villages on the coast. They are not manmade, they have their own history and character - so if you fancy a bit of that, base yourself in Tarajalejo, Gran Tarajal or Las Playitas.
