Germany - a safe, clean and efficient country to visit with each major town having a tourist information centre offering advice on restaurants, attractions and activities. You will find a huge range of hotels but these may get busy during the festivals and fairs which happen throughout the year in different parts of Germany.
The climate in Germany is mild. Cities and are best visited in spring or early autumn [particularly in the south of Germany where is can be very warm]. July and August are good month to spend a relaxing holiday by the sea, by the lakes or in the more mountainous areas. In the second half of September and early October the "Oktoberfest" take place which is an annual beer festival open to all visitors. December is for Christmas shopping and is a good month for skiing in the Black forest, the Alps and the Harz Mountains.
Shopping in Germany:Shops in Germany are generally of a high quality but some items are not cheap! In Berlin, almost anything can be bought but you have to know where to look. Outside of Berlin you will find traditional handicrafts and folk art - most out in the country. A visit to a local market may give you the opportunity to buy a regional speciality to take home as a souvenir.
Eating out in Germany:Germany cuisine does not have the same reputation as some other European countries. However, you can eat well in Germany with many restaurants specialising in regional dishes. Recently, some fine restaurants have opened serving excellent international cuisine.
The Language of Germany:Quite understandably, German is the first language spoken by 95% of the population.
