Formerly known as Puerto Calero, Costa Calero is now one of smaller resorts on Lanzarote with its high class hotels and prestigious yacht harbour. Surrounded by elegant villas, white-washed apartments and a few waterfront restaurants and cafes, sailors from all over the world navigate their way here to soak up the peaceful atmosphere and unparalleled Atlantic views.

Located approximately 5km [3 miles] to the west of Puerto del Carmen, the entrance to the harbour is marked by a 12m [39ft] long skeleton of a Bryde's Whale - a whale which can be seen in Canarian waters from April to October when it feeds on shoals of mackerel and sardines.

Costa Calero has quickly established itself as one of Europe's most beautiful marinas and was literally blasted out of the dark rocks of this stretch of coastline and in 2001 the marina was doubled in size which turned the port into a fully fledged resort. However, you do not need to be a keen yachtsman to enjoy a holiday in Costa Calero as many visitors arrive by road and have come simpy to stroll and have a lazy lunch on the terrace of one of the excellent bars and restaurants on the quayside.
