CALA BONA TRAVEL GUIDE

Cala Bona is located on the east coast of Mallorca, 14 miles east of the town of Manacor, 46 miles east of Palma [a little less from the airport]. It is not a purpose built holiday resort, but more of a small traditional fishing village that has grown and adapted to cater for the islands tourist market. The town today still has its original narrow streets along with a small working harbour around which you will find a wide variety of open air cafes and bars. Cala Bona ["The Good Bay"] has a resonable sand and gravel beach [500m wide and 90m deep] is enclosed by rock breakwaters and has sunbeds and a few thatched parasols. There is a similar beach at Costa de los Pinos. A better, longer beach with smooth, light sand can be found at Cala Millor ["The Better Bay"], separated from Cala Bona by a rocky section. There is a nudist beach at Punta Amer.
There are handicraft shops - "Artesanias" which sell tourist bric-a-brac. Also many boutiques, leather and jewellery stores. there is a market in Son Servera on Fridays, in Arta on Tuesdays, in Sa Coma on Wednesdays and in Manacor on Mondays.
Entertainment in Cala Bona during the day centres on the 18 and 9 hole golf courses nearby as well as a range of water sports, several tennis clubs, go-karting, a dive centre, cycle hire, crazy golf, horse riding/trekking. In the evening there are numberous nightclubs and music bars to chose from and seasonal open-air club just outside town.
There is a wide choice and with neighbouring Cala Millor, includes fish restaurants and international cuisine such as Chinese and Italian.
