Cala Mayor - or Cala Major - is west of Palma and is the first resort you will come across when exiting Palma. Today, it is more residential than touristy although new businesses catering to both markets are starting to re-appear. Arriving from Palma, you will pass Marivent Palace on your left as you enter Cala Mayor. This is the occasional home of the King Juan Carlos where he welcomes dignitaries from all over the world.
Cala Mayor is nestled between Palma and Illetas and has a fine sandy beach which is popular for those who want to be close to the historic city of Palma, but at a beachside location.
