LLUCHMAJOR TRAVEL GUIDE
Mallorca, Balearic Islands, SpainIf you are looking for a holiday hotel, apartment or villa in Lluchmajor, the following information may help by giving you an overview on the resort.
Although Lluchmajor [sometimes seen as Llucmajor] is an ordinary country town [the largest in southern Mallorca], it has its place in history - it was the site of the battle in 1349 where Pedro IV of Aragon killed his relative Jaume III to end Mallorca’s brief spell as an independent kingdom. Jaume’s death is commemorated by a statue at the end of Passeig Jaume III. Nearby, on Carrer Obispo Taxaquet, is another statue in honour of Lluchmajor’s cobblers. Shoemaking is still a significant industry here. Almonds and apricots grown around the town and make good buys at the market - held twice each week in Plaça d’Espanya.
