Monte Carlo Hotels, Monte Carlo Holidays and Monte Carlo Flights
If you are planning a Monte Carlo holidays and are looking for a Monte Carlo hotel and flight, the following information may help by giving you an overview on Monte Carlo in Monaca.
To clear up any Monte Carlo / Monaco confusion straight away, Monte Carlo is one of the four quarters of the small principality of Monaco, but not the capital [Monaco doesn’t have one]. It is the richest area with the famous Casino [no, the bank was never broken] and the neighbourhoods of St.Michel, St.Roman and the Lavotto beach community. Most of the Monaco Gran Prix circuit is in Monte Carlo, and the Monte Carlo Rally – one of the oldest and most prestigious in the car rallying calendar – starts from here.
The most famous attraction is the Casino complex and Grand Theatre de Monte Carlo, an opera and ballet theatre. The gambling concession is operated by the Societe des Bains de Mer [Sea-bathing Society, though they may have another kind of soaking in mind]. This is majority-owned by the state, helping to free Monegasques from income tax. In return, they may not use the Casino. Monte Carlo is a haunt of the rich and famous, who frequent the place in large numbers. In addition, many rich tax exiles choose Monaco as their international base. However, ordinary people are allowed in, if only to see how the other one percent live.
The ruling Grimaldi family have their residence in Monte Carlo. The Prince’s Palace started life as a Genoese fortress in 1191. The Grimaldis captured it in 1297 and have been in charge ever since, with the occasional short intermission. They haven’t moved house in 700 years, merely alterting and adding to the original structure as funds permitted. The Napoleon Museum is attached to the Palace and has many artefacts associated with “Le Petit Caporal”, as well as Monaco’s Charter of Independence granted by King Louis XII of France.

In July and August specialized equipment and qualified staff are on hand here to help those with restricted mobility. Monte Carlo Beach is half mile further east, with some private sections.

More modest restaurants can be found tucked away in many side streets, mostly basing their menus on traditional French cooking or Nouvelle Cuisine. It is difficult to find an inexpensive meal other than infrequent fast food outlets.
