Tours of the collection are given three or four times a day.
You will also find that the city of Jerez de la Frontera is Andalucia's horse capital and famed for the Real Escuela Andaluza de Arte Ecuestra [Royal Andalucian School of Equestrian Art]. Why not pay a visit to the Plaza de San Juan and the 18th century Palacio de Penmartin which houses the Centrol Andaluz de Flamenco, with exhibitions on the music and dance.
The main centre of Jerez is Calle Larga and Calle Lanceria which are pedestrianised streets which are lined with shops and cafes so you will not be stuck for dining choices on your holidays to Jerez de la Frontera.
However, many people start their Jerez de la Frontera holidays with a tour of the old quarter and the 11th/12th century Almohad fortress, the Alcazar. Inside there is a wonderful mezquita [mosque] which was converted into a chapel by Alfonso X in 1264, an impressive set of Banos Arabes [Arab Baths] and the 18th century Palacio Villavicencio. In the palace's tower you will be able to get a panoramic view the city of Jerez and benefit from multilingual commentary. Sessions begin every 30 minutes. There is an entrance fee which is approximately 5.50 euros for adults and 3 euros for children.
Outside and around the Alcazar you will find the orange-lined promenade which overlooks the 18th century cathedral.
