One of the landmarks of Valencia, the elegant Gothic style Torres de Serranos are truly worth a visit. The old town’s north gate built on Roman foundations in 1398, you can walk to the top through its many levels and be rewarded by the views over Valencia.
The towers were built with a defensive function in mind although they were never used as such, but throughout their history were used as trade gates of Valencia. Between the years of 1586 and 1887 they were used as a prison for the nobility.
