Although once a small fishing village and where sugar cane was cultivated, Bajamar lacks a real centre. Instead it has a long promenade and a network of streets to the rear, all lined with the usual medley of bars, restaurants and shops. These are rarely crowded - part of the its charm - though considerable amounts of money are being invested in the future of Bajamar. The resulting refurbishment and new polish may well alter the town’s traditional appeal. The high coastal cliffs and the soaring peaks of Monte de las Mercedes provide a scenic backdrop for the numerous apartments and hotels in Bajamar.

The pools are continuously fed by the Atlantic Ocean. The seawater splashes over the pool edges - occasionally crashing over - with people near the edge being sprayed by the waves. There are 2 large pools and a small one for children. The water at the beach is much calmer !! |
