Costa Adeje is an extension of
Playa de las Americas, but the two are so moulded together that you can hardly see the join. The area just north of the harbour of Puerto Colon is newer and less frenetic than its neighbour, has a good share of restaurants and bars and plenty of shopping centres.
For a break from the bustle of the coast head up to Costa Adeje which is a pleasant hillside town with narrow, tree-lined road and outdoor cafes and bars. Just behind Costa Adeje town is a track that leads past prickly pears and candelabra cacti to Barranco del Infierno.
There are a great variety of bars and restaurants to enjoy on your Costa Adeje holidays; McEwans to San Miguel, paella to pie [steak and kidney]. Very few gourmet options but a good choice of fresh seafood, particularly in
La Caleta. Tapas bars offer local temptations. Local specialities to experience on your holidays in Costa Adeje include papas arrugadas [literally "wrinkled potatoes" – small spuds boiled in their jackets with salt], served with mojo picante [spicy green or red herb sauce].

You can play golf on your Costa Adeje holidays. The golf course in Costa Adeje is surprising because it is adapted to its surroundings. Pepe Gancedo designed an unusual layout respecting the old farm terraces that slope down to the sea framed by the original dry stone walls. There are really lovely views of the ocean, the island of
La Gomera and rugged Adeje mountains, this unique golf course features 27 holes on wide greens and obstacles such as gorges and lakes. The pleasant and spacious Club House has large terraces and a central courtyard. An unusual feature is the lift which takes you down to the driving range in your buggy.
