Loro Parque [Spanish for "Parrot Park"], is a zoo located on the outskirts of Puerto de la Cruz. The park opened in 1972 and started with a mere 150 parrots and has now grown to 300 species and sub-species, making 3,000 in total.
This collection claims to be the largest in the world, and the park has Europe's largest dolphin show pool, the world's largest indoor penguin exhibition and the longest shark tunnel in Europe.
br>Other creatures on display in the park include chimpanzees, sea lions, gorillas, pelicans, iguanas, alligators, flamingos, jaguars, exotic fish and many more.
