If you are planning your holiday to Meloneras in Gran Canaria, the following information may help by giving you an overview on the resort and the surrounding area.
Meloneras is an extension of Maspalomas, and is a new and developing resort offering a prime location overlooking the ocean with excellent accommodation, dining and entertainment, as well as activities to cater for a variety of interests. Located on the southwest coast of Gran Canaria, Meloneras beach stretches 6km to Playa del Ingles.
The resort boasts a long beach with beautiful white sand and is only a stones throw away from Maspalomas Beach – a gently sloping, sometimes windswept beach of fine sand that runs virtually unbroken eastwards towards Playa del Ingles. It’s backed by a magnificent expanse of Sahara-like dunes that extends over a mile inland (popular with large numbers of naturist and gay holidaymakers). The strip closest to the water’s edge is often packed with ranks of loungers and parasols throughout the year, and dotted with drinks kiosks. The water is clear and generally safe (but with a system of warning flags). No water sports on Maspalomas Beach. The shoreline running west along the promenade is quite rocky and therefore unsuitable for swimming.
