If you planning a holiday to Alajero, La Gomera, the following information may help by giving you an overview on the resort and the surrounding area.
Alajero is a small, typical rural village of La Gomera. Located on the southern slopes of La Gomera, only 9km from the sea at Playa de Santiago, the village enjoys a pleasant sunny climate but is 800 metres above sea level making it a little cooler than the coast with chilly evenings in winter. There are a couple of bars and restaurants to enjoy on the holidays to Alajero, which has a population of about 300, and this is a very quiet location that would suit those seeking a peaceful rural holiday. Natural attractions include the geology and fauna of the coastal area, and the calm, crystalline waters of the beaches at Santiago or Erese. One of the few specimens of the dragon tree found on the island grows here close to Agalan.
The church in Alajero of El Salvador del Mundo (Saviour of the World) stands out as one of the cultural highlights of the resort, with its beautiful statue of Christ dating from the XVII century.
