If you are planning your Granadilla holidays, the following information may help by giving you an overview of the resort.
A 10-minute drive inland from El Medano will take you into another world of traditional island villages – Granadilla. The higher into the hills you go, the prettier and more fertile the scenery. Granadilla [also known as Granadilla de Abona] is a municipality of Tenerife, located in the south.
Abona was the name of the Guanche kingdom, that existed in this region of the island at the time of the Spanish conquest in the late 15th century. Founded around 1445, it extended from Rio de Chasna to Adeje, from the Barranco de Herques to Guimar.
Granadilla de Abona has schools, a concert hall, a gynmasium, banks, churches, beaches and a few squares.
