A Las Caletillas holiday is a quieter affair than in the more lively resorts of Playa de las Americas or Los Cristianos in the far south of Tenerife. You can expect to find an authentic Spanish town away from the masses, so if you enjoy an exceptionally lively nightlife with glitzy nightclubs, then this isn’t the place for you. What you will find are small, traditional restaurants and a few bars where you will be able to practice your Spanish phrases. You can also find a selection of local stores, a bank, chemist and some holiday shops.
The pebbly beach at Las Caletillas is ideal for sunbathing. There are no sandy beaches in the immediate vicinity, but you will need to get into nearly Candelaria where you will find a small black sand beach.
The weather in Tenerife is pleasant year-round making this the perfect destination for both summer and winter holidays.
Summers tend to be hot and dry, with the month with the warmest temperatures being August when it can reach an average of 29°C midday, coming down to an average of 21°C during the evening.
The coolest month is January but you can still benefit from temperatures averaging a high of 21°C, coming down to 15°C at night.
Below we’ve broken down the monthly averages for Las Caletillas weather, and with this resort being south of Mount Teide will benefit from the best of the weather than in the north of island, which can be cloudier.

The closest resort is Candelaria which is just over a 1 km stroll along the palm tree lined promenade, and is probably one of the prettiest towns in Tenerife. This is the main focus of attention in the area, attracting visitors with its main attraction of the Basilica de Nuestra Senora de Candelaria which houses an image of Tenerife’s patron, the Virgin. There are also bronze statues of the Guanche kings standing proud along the seafront.
However, it’s not far to travel to other nearby resorts such as :
Santa Cruz is the common abbreviation of its correct name of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, and is a journey of around 15km. This is the capital of Tenerife and is a great place to spend the day and evening. You can get to capital by taxi, but the cheapest way is by bus.
Las Americas’ correct name being Playa de las Americas, but often shortened to just Las Americas, is around 63km away and you can either reach it by taxi, or again the cheapest option is by bus which will take you around 1 hour 15 minutes.
Costa Adeje is just a very short distance further on from Las Americas. In fact you can take advantage of the seafront promenade which runs from Costa Adeje right through to Los Cristanos, and walk from one resort to the other.
Güímar is located inland where you can find the Pyramids of Guimar (Piramides de Güímar) – a popular tourist attraction only 12km (approximately) from Las Caletillas making it a great day out.
The distance to Tenerife South airport is approximately 46km and if you are staying at the Catalonia Punta del Rey with us then we can offer transfers from the airport for the following approximate prices, which will pick up up at the airport, take you to the hotel, and then take you back on your day of departure :
Shuttle/Coach transfer from Tenerife South airport : £31 per person
Private taxi transfer from Tenerife South airport : £76 per taxi for 1-4 people
Private taxi transfer from Tenerife North airport : £58 per taxi for 1-4 people
Of course, you can always go direct to the taxi rank outside the airport and jump into a taxi from there. If you are travelling from the UK, then you would fly into Tenerife South. You may want a transfer from Tenerife North if you are flying in from another of the Canary Islands – ie you are on a 2-centre holiday.
