Up until about 20 years ago, a holiday in La Gomera was known for its walking activities. Today, La Gomera boasts a wonderful golof course, attracting visitors to the island and especially from the neighbouring island of Tenerife.
Getting to La Gomera
If you intend to take a trip to the Canary Island of La Gomera, you will need to take the ferry from Los Cristianos harbour over to San Sebastian on La Gomera. It’s then a taxi ride from the port to Tecina Golf. The journey will take just 40 minutes on the ferry. You can take a car over on the ferry, or just be a foot passenger with luggage.
Tecina Golf is a par 71, 6,340m long course. Located on a cliff overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, this 18-hole golf course benefits from wonderful views of both the sea and over to Tenerife and its mountain – Mount Teide. The course was designed by Donald Steel who also designed the course at St.Andrews in Scotland. You’ll find the course abundant with tropical vegetation, including palm trees.
One of the most spectacular hold is known to be the 4th. This is where players have to drive the ball over a ravine. Another hole with a feature to remember is the 10th where the tee is located 45m above the level of the green.
If you are a beginner, why not take advantage of the academy that provides classes for beginners as well as the more advanced player.
